New Year in Phuket: decorating a home, a villa and a restaurant

Short answer: book the date two to three weeks ahead, three palettes work best in the tropics - gold with white, silver with blue and red with gold - and the decoration should go up on the day itself, because latex balloons in Phuket last 10 to 24 hours. When to book

December is high season in Phuket, and the closer it gets to the 31st the tighter the delivery schedule. If the decoration has to be in place by a specific hour - dinner, guests arriving, midnight - book the date two to three weeks ahead. This matters most on 31 December and 1 January: couriers run a pre-planned route those days and squeezing an urgent order into the middle of it is close to impossible.

Three palettes that work in the tropics

Gold and white. The most universal pairing: it reads well in a bright villa, in a restaurant with warm lighting and in candlelit photos. Chrome gold adds shine, matte white keeps it calm.

Silver and blue. Cooler and a little more formal. It looks strong near water and in interiors with dark wood, and gives evening photos the contrast gold tends to lose.

Red and gold. The classic that reads as New Year without any lettering. In Phuket it works better indoors: in bright sun red latex fades faster than other colors.

Home and apartment

A home needs two accents: ceiling balloons in the living room and an arrangement on the table or by the entrance. Ten to fifteen latex balloons with long tails fill a room, and a large Bubble with lettering and confetti works as the center of a photo zone.

With small children in the house, foil figures are the safer choice: fragments of a burst latex balloon should never end up in a toddler's hands.

Villa

A villa is where volume pays off: a ceiling in the living room, an arch by the pool, floor fountains in the corners of the terrace. We come to the venue, build on site and take everything down afterwards by arrangement. Setup takes one to three hours, so plan it for the morning or before the guests arrive.

An arch or a photo zone needs an anchor point, and a socket nearby if lighting is involved. Send photos of the spot in advance and we will tell you what will work and what will not.

Restaurant, bar and hotel

Here predictability matters more than beauty: the decoration has to survive the evening and stay out of the waiters' way. In venues we usually build ceiling arrangements and tall fountains around the perimeter rather than arches in walkways.

We work with companies on invoice, with reporting documents and a fixed price list for repeat items, so a venue decorated every season does not have to renegotiate the price each time.

Yacht

On-board decoration is done at the marina before departure. Every fixing is planned for wind: what stands perfectly in a living room goes overboard in the first minutes under way. Helium arrangements on an open deck last less than in the saloon - that is normal and worth planning the evening around.

Heat, sun and balloons

The main thing to know up front: in the Phuket climate latex balloons last 10 to 24 hours, foil balloons and a large Bubble 2 to 3 days, confetti balloons 6 to 10 hours. We treat all latex with Hi-Float for free, which extends float time but does not cancel physics.

Hence a simple rule: decoration goes up on the day of the party, not the day before. Keep arrangements in a cool room, away from direct sun, air conditioning and heaters.
